Community Empowerment (Dr. Mugisho)

Programme Title: Community Empowerment (Women & Children)
Lead by Dr. Mugisho T. Ndabuli

Programme Overview: The programme intends to help people understand how community can be empowered by focusing on women and children. Women and children make the greater bulk of every society. Not empowering them cannot allow their community to advance. Developed areas are those where women are empowered. One way of empowering societies is to allow the men to understand how to use their maleness positively in order to lift up other men, women and children. Such efforts combination implies mutual assistance in ideas and in actions for the welfare of everyone in the society, which fosters inclusion and shuns exclusion.

To do so, the programme organizers have planned to organize annual virtual and in person and on-field conversations around key themes including:

  • Constructive masculinities, diversity and gender
  • Gender and women empowerment
  • Masculinity and childrenโ€™s empowerment
  • Masculinity and servant leadership

Practically, the impact of these conversations is to make men in their local areas understand that their masculinities can be a tool for empowering themselves, their families and even their communities if they are used in a constructive manner. The same applies to gender. We must see gender in the inclusive angle and not the exclusive one. Menโ€™s circles will be formed with the aim of discussing and implementing these behaviors from families to societal levels.
